So here's the skinny, we've been stressing over what to post today... like a lot! So much so that we froze up and couldn't pick. The truth is we have so much great content this holiday season that we really want to make sure each get's the proper attention it's due. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a bad problem to have, so we've come up with a solution: Holiday Week Round Two! I know, kind of cheesy, and trust us, very unexpected, but rather than picking amongst all of our good options and squeezing one more post into the end of this week, we've decided to extend our holiday fun and keep the celebration going.

Starting Monday you can expect more giveaway, style posts, and collaborations, but first we want to know what your favorite part of this week was. It's our first holiday week, and we'd like to think we've done well so far, but we also want to make sure next year is even better! So give us your feedback, we always love hearing from you!

Night Bright with Bright Pink & Giuliana Rancic

We're halfway through the month of October, but you can still do some good while enjoying a little something for yourself. October is breast cancer awareness month, and we're big fans of our local advocates, Bright Pink. Recently, Bright Pink teamed up with another Glitterary favorite, Giuliana Rancic, in a dynamic partnership titled Fab-U-Wish.

You might know Giuliana from E! News, Fashion Police, or her own reality show, Giuliana & Bill. Among many things, Giuliana is known for her keen eye for style and red carpet reporting. What some may not know is that she is a cancer survivor. As such, her story of success is largely accredited to her band of supporters, those in her beauty room who not only made her camera ready, but made her feel special, feminine, and beautiful in a time when womanhood felt fleeting. Now, she's paying it forward.

Together with Bright Pink, Giuliana recently took two very special women, who through their circumstances found friendship and victory over cancer, and showered these women in love. After being flown to Chicago the women were treated to a weekend of relaxation and style, all of which concluded with a fab fete at Old Orchard Westfield Mall, aptly titled "Night Bright".

The evening was filled with music, pink cocktails, and all the fall fashion a girl could want. Seriously, everything from outerwear to black-tie, and this is where you come in...

Glitterary Cooks!

Chicago is home to countless gourmet restaurants, constantly elevating our own culinary expectations, and frankly, making us a little lazy in the Home Ec. department. That said, despite our lack of culinary genius like that of Stephanie Izard (Girl and the Goat), every now and then we still like to try our hand at gourmet cuisine–as unsuccessful as some of our attempts may be. Plated is our solution to cooking gourmet meals. Like you, between, work, the gym, hobbies, and social life balance, we often end up picking up takeout for a late dinner on the couch. Grocery shopping, cooking, and clean up- no thanks, we'll take the easy route! However, being the online gurus that we are, we loved shopping Plated's weekly meal options, making our selections and having them delivered to our homes just days later. With the exception of a few kitchen essentials, such as salt, pepper, and a little olive oil, everything needed for the recipes comes carefully packaged and delivered to your door.

To our surprise, the meals made us feel like real chefs- we can cook!!

A Day at the Track

Need some Labor Day weekend inspiration? We've got you covered...

Today's post is a little off the beaten path, but we think you'll like it just the same! A couple of weeks ago we were invited by America's Best Racing, a Jockey Club initiative, to tour Arlington Park and enjoy a day at the track. As the NFL is to football, so is the Jockey Club is to horse racing, and both seek to engage our tech/digital savvy generation, otherwise known as millennials. Hence, the invite...

New to the horse race experience we were excited, but also skeptical. Typically when planning group activities our minds don't navigate towards horse racing, it's not something we grew up on. That said, all we could picture was Kentucky Derby southern glam, so we were in!

The boys joined in on this adventure (there was whisky and betting, need I say more...), and we gave our best blind shots at dressing the part. It wasn't quite Kentucky Derby, but that weekend Arlington Park was hosting the Arlington Million, welcoming contestants from around the world, coming in second to the Kentucky Derby in both popularity and grandeur.

Our takeaway? A day at the track is not an activity, it's a lifestyle!

First of all, no other sport embraces fashion like horse racing– just think of the hats! Secondly, the sport is extremely social.

As novice horse track visitors, we had a lot to learn about the sport, and especially how to best place our bets, but the truth is, we had a lot of fun just hanging out with friends, making new ones, and sipping sweet cocktails while picking a horse/jockey /trainer tri-fecta (see how much we learned!) and cheering them on.

Fun Fact: for a casual day at the track you can pack a cooler and picnic with friends in the garden, and wine is always welcome! So grab your babe or besties and head to the track! If you live in the Chicagoland area, we'll be hitting up one more race before the end of September, so keep an eye out :)
