Today's look is made of silk, faux-fur, and leather! We've been incredibly lucky this winter and are yet to see snow here in Chi-town. I suppose that as former Alaska chicks, we've seen our fair share of white winters and as long as we get snow on Christmas eve we'll be happy to keep sporting our fall/winter combination closets. One of our favorite fall/winter trends is incorporating different textures into one look! Let this be one more encouragement to have fun with your closet this season and play dress-up with unlikely pieces! This neon top is clearly a summer piece, but paired with leather pants, a fur vest, and gold details it plays well into the holiday season! Don't forget that holiday sparkle! These booties are compliments of the mom-in-law and are definitely getting their use this season-- they're just so comfy- a major selling point in Steph's book! What can we say, we feel obliged to buy anything that sparkles at us. Have fun, Glitteraries, and happy weekend!!!

Preppy Tartan

This may be the last time D has bare legs for the rest of the winter! (brrrr) But who are we kidding, sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort for fashion. This tartan shirt was featured on our Modern Black Friday post, and we would never suggest anything we wouldn't buy ourselves. Its such a versatile piece and therefore one of our must-have winter pieces! D is a little more on the preppy side- and it shows. She paired this dark tartan plaid shirt with a pearlescent tulip skirt and simple black pumps. The dangle pearl necklace, layered with her gold monogram, gives this ensemble a more girly and sophisticated spin. But you can also give an edgy vibe by pairing it with a LBD like one of our favorite bloggers Kendi from Kendi Everyday. Check out how she styled this must-have piece here.

This season is all about having fun and mixing some otherwise unexpected pieces. Don't be afraid to layer up this winter, but remember to play on contrasting colors in order to make each piece stand out on its own. This look is a little business and a little holiday party, which is just how we like it! A little Glitterary tip: in order to not overwhelm your looks, when wearing an outfit heavily focused on the top pieces, get your hair out of the way and pull it up. Likewise, when wearing a low cutting shirt or plain top and bottom-focused outfit, let your hair down for a more holistic overall look.

We're firm believers that workwear should be anything but boring! And we confess that we're often spotted wearing sequins at the office- within moderation of course! Previously, we've mentioned the importance of tailoring and fit for all of your pieces but it is especially important when it comes to workwear, so we strongly recommend making friends with a tailor- we've been known to trust Nordstrom's tailoring department with some of our most important pieces, including a wedding dress! Needless to say, a trusted tailor is pretty much as important as your regular physician... except, for your clothes ;) Finally, when dressing for the office don't be afraid to have fun and add a bold print or bright accent to your look, maybe even make a statement with a wide leg trouser this fall! Truth be told, the rules are out the window this season, so have fun- I mean, we're even seeing Pajamas dressed for day, though we're not so sure how we feel about that one...
