Darlene:

  1. Prep face with primer, I like Sephora's Anti Shine Foundation Primer // Applied with Shu Uemura Natural 18 Goat Foundation Brush (my all time favorite foundation brush! $42).
  2. Prep eyes with MAC Paint Pot in Painterly from lash line to brow bone // Applied with MAC  brush #252 Large Shader
  3. Use MAC #252 Large Shader Brush to apply MAC Vapour Eye Shadow under brow bone & in inner corner of eye to highlight & brighten eye area. You can also order MAC Vapour Eye Shadow pans from MAC to create your own custom pallet.
  4. Use MAC #224 Tapered Blending Brush to apply MAC Texture Eye Shadow in crease
  5. Use MAC #252 Large Shader Brush to apply MAC Golden Olive Pigment on eyelid. Typically, I go back & blend the crease color -texture- to get an all over even blended look. Use tip of MAC #252 brush with Golden Olive pigment to smoke out bottom lash line.
  6. Use either side (matte or pearl) of Shu Uemura Eye Light Pencil in White to line the bottom water line of your lashes to help eyes appear brighter
  7. Curl lashes to add volume, I like Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. Prep lashes with Chanel Beaute Des Cils Nourishing Mascara Base.  I love this step because it creates such an impact on even lusher, flirtier lashes! Finish with a black mascara of your choice! On Darlene I used Benefit They're Real, I also like Lancome Oscillation.
  8. Line top lash line with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack // Applied with MAC #209 Eyeliner Brush.
  9. Use slanted tweezers to grab & glue false individual lashes & fill in lash line to create full & flirty lash effect. // Glue: Duo eyelash adhesive in dark tone $5.49 // Lashes: Ardell Individual Medium Flares in Black $3.89
  10. Fill in brows with brow powder or pencil of your choice, for Darlene I used  MAC Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette
  11. Use Shu Uemura 18 Goat Foundation brush to apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer all over face where coverage is needed.
  12. Apply brightening concealer under eyes, down the nose, above lip on cupid's bow to create highlight & blend, I like Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector Broad Spectrum SPF 25.
  13. Use MAC Bronzer in Refined Golden around face where sun would naturally tan (temples, under cheekbone, under jawline, down neck) to contour.
  14. Apply a Pop of Bobbi Brown Blush in Nude Peach // Applied with MAC #116 Blush Brush
  15. Set face with a translucent powder for a flawless finish, I like Neutrogena Shine Control Powder.
  16. Fill in lips with NARS Honolulu Honey Lipstick. Add a pop of MAC Cremesheen Glass in Right Image on the top & bottom center of lips so that lips appear fuller

Lessons in Tweed

Tweed, the preppy classic restyled with a dash of sass. Perhaps that's our favorite thing about a dark tweed jacket, its ability to be transformed from classic to modern with a simple graphic tee and edgy accessory. We'll admit, this weekend we splurged- ZARA is having an Amazing end of season sale, so when we say we splurged we mean we got a Load of goodies at a steal, but far more goodies than intended (*guilty)!

As it turns out, we had a few friends in town for the weekend and this little number was perfect for walking the neighborhood, lunching in the Gold Coast and even closing the evening in Wicker Park. What more can a girl ask from her closet than style as versatile as that?!

The main style lesson here, have fun with your wardrobe & remember to play dress-up with both your classic and trendy pieces, you'd be surprised at the fun the two can create! ... ALSO, make sure you own a pair of vegan leather pants-- as comfy as leggings, these babies have become living essential for this Glitterary! Until next time :)

Winter Whites

Hey Glitteraries, want to know a secret? Despite popular opinion, we at Glitterary believe that the infamous "no white after labor day" is no more than a myth. When done right, white can pop out beautifully in the midst of all those gloomy winter darks. In fact, our favorite part of winter whites is their clean & sleek simplicity - don't mess with that- keep it simple!

In today's post Steph's paired a simple chambray button-up under a statement black & white sequin sweater. However, in order to really make that white *Pop as the foremost shade of this ensemble, Steph completed her look with white cords and simple black heels. Like we said, "K.I.S."- Keep It Simple ;)

Winter Brights

Brr! In case you were wondering, Chicago is actually colder than Anchorage, Alaska! Despite the bitter cold, its a bright and sunny Monday and we love a good pop of color- no matter what season it is! We're loving theses mustard pants paired with one of our favorite classic tartan prints, add a little sparkle and voilà you have a winter look that's anything but boring.

A little Rock & Roll Stroll

Ah, it feels good to be back :) This weekend has been filled with strolls through our neighborhood and some lovely R&R with the fam. Featured today is a simple accessory, but one we're obsessed with. We first saw this all-american scarf worn by Eric Church during the CMAs. We were immediately searching the web for the purchase! Over the holidays Steph also ordered this menswear inspired downtown field jacket- an immediately gratifying purchase and we love how it pairs with Steph's scarf and aviators for a perfectly casual rocker-like feel. You know Mary and you also recently met Scout, now meet the dapper hubs- he's a keeper, it's been a happy weekend! :)
