Fall Leggings with The Everygirl

Hi friends! Last week I had the privilege of teaming up with theEverygirl & Athleta to style our favorite fall essential, the legging!

In case you missed it, today I'm sharing some additional images from our shoots, including my favorite looks at the end, but you can find the full feature here.

More importantly, however, I hope you'll take this as an opportunity to explore all that theEverygirl has to offer! I am such a fan of what these girls are doing and am lucky to say that I've been soaking up their features since the get-go!

Lauded by Forbes as one of the top 10 websites for millennial women & top 100 for women in general, you know these girls are legit, not to mention their impeccably sharp aesthetic. Combining exceptional imagery, with practical advice, this site is the ultimate destination for everygirls everywhere and working with them is always a joy!

As for Athleta, well... there are few things I enjoy more than activewear that can camouflage as everyday wear! Unlike most fitness lines, Athleta carries a lifestyle line that can transition you from the gym to brunch effortlessly! It's the best of both worlds and their current collection is right on trend for fall. If you're the sporty type or just like the idea of comfort and fashion intersecting, this is your place! Check out Athleta's current collection here, including some of my favorite pieces below...

Little Black Dress // Feat. Jenny Yoo Collection

Dress c/o | Heels (ON SALE) | Clutch | Bracelets | Ring | Lip Color

The hunt for that little black dress is somewhat like that for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow... the unicorn of the female wardrobe, and yet the one that every girl needs.

I remember I purchased my first "official" LBD when I was 20. At the time, the hubs and I were in college & dating long-distance. Every semester we took turns making visits to/from Illinois & Virginia, and this time it was my turn to make the flight. Note to self, the following is why long distance dating can be somewhat unrealistic– every date is a major production and this trip there were fancy dinner reservations & a Michael Bubble concert.

Enter, the little black dress...

Irronicaly, the dress I purchased for this trip looked much like the one in this post. I still own that original LBD, and have worn it for multiple dates, dinners, and weddings, which is why when Jenny Yoo contacted me to style a dress of my choice, I went with the Harlow featured above.

This little lace number is a modern take on a timeless classic, and one I'm sure to wear for years to come!

I had so much fun styling this dress for date night, because it allowed me to incorporate a little more edge and spunk. The styling above is much more my personality, but the great news is that I can easily pair this with a top knot, pearls, and black heels for a more classic and polished look. Did I mention how excited I am to style this for holiday parties? Versatility is key, friends!...

P.S. // This is technically a bridal party dress– WHAT?! Note for all the brides-to-be out there: Jenny Yoo has an exceptional bridal collection!

Warning: If you don't like cutoff shorts, bear with me...

While we've officially transitioned to fall, I can't say it feels like it here in the south. This move will ensue a long list of firsts for us, one of which being the first year we won't experience all four seasons! The thought of the holidays without snow, is not even something I can grasp yet, but wearing shorts everyday of fall isn't half bad.

Don't get me wrong, fall is one of my favorite seasons, and most certainly my favorite fashion season. I know I've been MIA, but there are some really cool things in the works & I can't wait to style some cozy looks for you to pair with those pumpkin spice lattes.

In the meantime, I'll be purchasing more of the cutoffs below while I acclimate to these palm trees. Think warm thoughts, or cool ones– your choice ;)

I'll Love You Forever

"IL Love You Forever" Tee by MeganLeeDesigns in Women's Large. |  Shoes c/o Bucketfeet | Shorts | Watch c/o May 28th

It's official, Horstkoetter's are moving to Texas!

If you've recently asked what's new, and I said "Not a lot..." I was completely lying to you, and I'm so sorry, because it was such a hard secret to keep!

Truth is, this move has been in the works for some months. Remember that "Anniversary Getaway" you saw on Instagram? While I tried to spin it as a fun trip for the hubs and I, it wasn't a vacation at all, and aside from a couple dinner dates, we spent most of our time exploring neighborhoods with a realtor. Trust me, this move is as much of a shock to me as it is to you!...

I moved to Chicago in 2007 and love this city with everything I've got! While I grew up in Alaska, I've always refered to Chicago as my adult home. This city has been so good to me and a large part of making me into the woman I am. Not to get all sentimental, because I really am excited about the adventure this will for Paul and I, but this move is definitely bittersweet for the both of us.

Heads up, I know it seems sudden, but this move is happening fast– like within the next couple weeks. That being said, just be warned that if we run into eachother in the remainder of our time here, I may be in zombie mode. Leave it to me to plan a home tour right before we move across country... (#firstworldproblems).

Finally, I will try not to annoy you with my personal nostalgia, but hang tight, because I'm so excited to share some southern culture with you from the Lone Star State– who knows I may even start cooking now, sky's the limit, y'all!

Until then, I'll just be catching up on my country music videos fueling unrealistic expectations for my little southern romance...

xoxo

Paul, Only you and I would be crazy enough to plan a move like this– love you to the moon and back!

Everyday Basics

You may not know it, but there's a motorcycle ride going on and it totally makes sense to talk skincare because of it...

If you're not familiar with Kiehl's, they're a skin and hair care line who's blend of cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal, and medicinal knowledge has produced a product lineup that is top notch!

"Scientifically formulated to respect, restore, and strengthen the skin barrier for healthier, more radiant, younger-looking skin", their products are appropriate for both you, him, and the house guest.

A little bit of background...

Kiehl’s was founded as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighborhood. In 1996 Kiehl’s made HIV/AIDS a key philanthropy, and over the past two decades they have raised more than $2,000,000 for HIV/AIDS organizations and continues to do so.

Here's the cool part...

Every year, Kiehl's holds a multi-day, multi-stop motorcycle ride around the U.S. to help raise awareness and benefit AIDS research. Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR is a multi-day, multi-stop, charitable motorcycle ride from Wisconsin to New York. Every year, Kiehl's CEO, Chris Salgardo, leads the pack, accompanied by a list of celebrities, and last week they stopped in Chicago!

As part of this initiative, the brand sells a Limited Edition Ultimate Strength Hand Salve– a jumbo-sized tube of the classic formula and best seller, with 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this product going to benefit amfAR.

Between the hubs and I, we've tested a lot of Kiehl's products over the years. The images above feature some of my go-to beauty basics, including a hat for bad hair days ;)
