Weekend Where To

Buckle up, because we've got your weekend agenda and you are booked! A lot is happening in the Chicago fashion scene this weekend and we're sharing our top 3  places to be, consider this your weekend where to... 1. BaubleBar - That's right, this online shopping hot spot is in Chicago for a special 3 day pop-up shop at Sofia's, and we need to show them how Chicago styles. If you don't already shop BaubleBar this is the perfect opportunity for you to fall in love, because these baubles are everything you want in jewels: sparkle, statement, and affordability. While we love shopping online, we also love practicing our layering skills in the mirror, so this shop is right up our alley.

2. Designer Closet - While you're in the Gold Coast, be sure to stop by Designer Closet on the third floor of the 900 Shops next to Bloomingdales. This is a unique pop-up shop of all the designer resale you could dream of–seriously Chanel and Prada for days! Best of all, all proceeds benefit the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, so why not shop and help a great cause? Trust us, this is one pop-up shop you won't want to miss!

3. Last Call, Neiman Marcus - While the Fashion Outlets of Chicago can always be counted on to satisfy that shopping urge, this weekend Neiman Marcus Last Call is hosting their Friends and Family sale, and since you're friends of Glitterary, we can't help but tell you all about it! Through Monday enjoy an additional 30% off of Neiman's already ridiucluously reduced prices. We took a brief preview tour on Wednesday and let's just say we snagged some Rag and Bone for $50. Doesn't get better than that! (Styled looks coming soon)

4. Warby Parker - And just because it's habit to break our shopping limitations, don't forget that Warby Parker is in town on their class trip! We've featured Warby Parker before, because not only do we love their trendsetting and affordable frames, but we love their business model! For every pair of glasses that you purchase (Only $95 including prescription)  Warby donates a pair to someone in need! It simply makes sense, and a company with that kind of citizenship will always have our support!

All Black Everything

Today we're teaming up with Skirt PR for a very special cause. Starting tomorrow there will be a one-of-a kind pop-up shop, aptly titled "Designer Closet", and hosting all of the Chanel, Prada, and YSL a girl could dream of. Best of all, all proceeds go to Lurie Children's Hospital! In an effort to promote the product & event, Skirt asked us to stop by and style an item. I think it took us 2 minutes to make our selection- Black Ostrich feather skirt!? The styling ideas were overflowing! While we considered a graphic tee and tuxedo blazer, ultimately we decide to be a little more dramatic and stick to all black! This trend is killer right now, and we know we're biased, but we think this look is right on par.

This little skirt and much much more will be available starting Friday 10am at Designer Closet on the 3rd floor of the 900shops right next to Bloomingdales, details below. Designer inventory has been generously donated by local retailers as well as friends and supporters of the Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago; all profits will benefit Lurie Children’s and its efforts to provide the most advanced and compassionate healthcare for children and their families.

Store Hours: Friday, September 20 (10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), through Saturday, September 21(10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Neon Rose

Hello, indian summer! It's well into the 90s here in Chicago so a leather jacket makes total sense right? Right. Some of us, i.e. D, are just too excited for fall to wait for the temperature to drop in order to start wearing fall favorites. We're huge fans of transitioning summer pieces, like this neon striped tee, with heavier and darker fall pieces. D also traded her light wash distressed boyfriend jeans for this darker and more polished pair–our penchant for boyfriend jeans isn't going away just yet.

The Fabric of Our Lives

"The touch, the feel of cotton, the fabric of our lives..." - Cotton While out on the farm, that catchy little tune is all we could think of. This week S was in MO visit Meme. Quaint, still, and quite the opposite of city living, this little town is always a fun escape. Meme's fields produce cotton (hence the song), soy, rice, and corn. It's a beautiful land of sunrises & sunsets that define America's hardworking history. Thus, today's post is patriotic, casual, and free, nothing fancy, but everything it should be.

On a more serious note, Meme's not doing well, she's 93, and it's just a matter of time. If you're the praying type, we'd love your prayers as the family preps for the week ahead.

Anchors in August

It may be August, but it finally feels like summer in Chicago! In light of summer temperatures, today's look is anchored in all american red ,white, and blue, though we'd like to think it's more nautical than 4th of July parade. Sported for a day of shopping and rooftop mimosas, this look proved to be the perfect combination of comfort and class, but we have to admit, we may have swapped the heels for sandals part way through... Guilty.

Neon & Lace

Drop waist skirts are tricky, and typically not our go-to trend, but this little lace number may have us changing our minds.

The truth is, S tried this on as an experiment- we liked the idea, but didn't have much faith in the cut of the garment. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The layers of lace give this dress a fun and feminine flare right where it's needed, transforming this seemingly boxy cut into a free spirited & effortless chic number. One of our favorite styling tricks is pairing neutrals with neon, so these SoleSociety kicks were a given.

Glitterary tip: give this dress a whirl, but get it fast, because it's almost gone....
