Soft Edge

Knock on wood, spring has finally sprung in Chicago! The last few days have been blue skies and a perfect 50-60 degrees. Unfortunately, this meant a quarter of yesterday's run was spent taking pictures, but when you've been hibernating for 6+ months obnoxious behavior is slightly more acceptable. Right?...

I picked up this Cynthia Rowley skirt nearly a year ago at a Gilt warehouse sale, and luckily it's still avaiable here.

What isn't visible in this set of images is a bold matte zipper on the back of the skirt, and I can't wait to tuck a graphic tee into that waitline to show it off!

Cut from an almost neoprene-like sweater material, this skirt will be a lot of fun as we transition into spring. Originally styled for a concert outing with the hubs, the edge to this look was strategic, but due to the soft nature of the fabrics you could easily sport this look for any casual occasion.

On another note, you'll have to forgive me, but in the bliss of this sunshine I completely dropped the ball on promoting our giveaway with Peruvian Connection. Because of my short falling on this, I've extended the entry deadline to next Monday night. That said, don't wait until the last minute, this gift card could bring you some fresh spring favorites you won't want to miss out on ;)

Jacket, c/o Ootra | Tee | Jeans | Shoes (old) - similar | Bag | Necklace | Bracelet - need This One

Today's post is one of my favorites simply because it so true to myself. Don't get me wrong, I'll take any chance I can get to dress up, but most days it's just jeans & a tee. Easy. Practical. Chic.

The pieces in this post are my go-to selections for a day of working from home and running errands, though I have to admit, I can't wait to trade these pants in for some denim shorts.

My favorite way to dress up a tee is with layers of dainty jewelery (gorjana-griffin is a great source for this).

This is the first suede jacket I've ever owned, and I have to say it's gaining a special place in my heart & at the front of my closet, particularly because it's so easy to throw over a tee or tank & will seemlessly transition me into next fall.

What's your go-to look for everyday life? Would love to hear from you...

Slouchy with a Side of Spring

Jacket | Sweater | Blouse | Pants (sold out) - similar | Shoes- similar | Bag | Earrings | Bracelets | Aviators

Happy Monday, and hope you all had a fabulous weeked! Last week I got to hang with streetstyle blogger, and new mommy, Emma of Tres Awesome. If  you haven't gotten a chance to check out her site, definitely give it a whirl, especially as she's starting to introduce some DIY, including this adorable gold kitchen decor!

Knowing that we'd snap a few shots after lunch, I put together this slouchy spring inspired ensemble. Full of layers, this look was perfect for a day that looked like spring, but felt like fall. Camo is back this season, and I can't tell you how much I've already worn this utility jacket. You may not  know this, but I'm picky about my camo, it has to be the right sized print and color scheme - something that can be dressed up or down, and GAP has always done me well in that department.

So, I guess that's your warning. You'll be seeing a lot of this jacket on the blog this spring, but I promise it will always be freshly styled :)

#TBT Spring Fashion with The Everygirl

Shirt | Pants | Shoes | Belt | Sunnies | Necklace - similar | Bracelets | Bag

Today, we're throwing it back to last year's spring fashion feature with The Everygirl!

Typically, I wouldn't post a #TBT on the blog, but when a look is back in season and still on trend, it deserves a second glance.

Since this particular look was styled a year ago, you can imagine my surprise when I found almost all of these items back in stock– and in Everygirl style, they're extremely affordable! So have at it, and shop your hearts out!

Spring is finally in the air, guys, & I'm feeling an instant mood boost– you?...

Could it finally be Spring outside?! A little part of me fears rejection, so let's "knock on wood" just to be safe...

If you have a job that allows you to wear jeans beyond the casual Friday, consider yourself lucky, and take advantage of it. This look is one with many purposes, great for brunch, easy for work, & fun for a casual date night.

I've personally probably worn it for all three of those ocassions. What can I say? When you find something that works, you keep doing it.

An easy go-to shop for work to evening pieces (and let's be honest, day sequins!!) is J.Crew. Somehow, I know that if I'm ever on the hunt for something I can dress up or down quickly, I know I'll be safe at J.Crew.

Think about it- pair one of their signature pencil skirts with a silk top and blazer and your ready for work. Ditch the blazer and you're ready for happy hour. Swap it for a graphic tee and your ready for Sunday brunch with the girls.

Fashion you can mix around like this is always prefered in my closet.

Happy Tuesday!

Trench | Top (old ) - similar | Jeans | Heels | Bag | Bracelets

It's commical how out of place today's look is. With Chicago's recent forecast, it'll be a while until I wear this look again, but you're gonna want to shop this spring ready trench before it's gone!

These days I do a lot of my shopping online, as I tend to be on the hunt for rather specific pieces. That said, the other day a girlfriend and I hit Michigan Ave.

I came across this trench towrds the begining of our trip, and somehow managed to talk myself out of it. However, as we made our way down the Mag Mile, I was seeing similar coats interspersed and all at $75 to $100 over the cost of the one I'd originally considered. Needless to say, I went back, and  it may be the best $29 I've spent all month!...
