Warning: If you don't like cutoff shorts, bear with me...

While we've officially transitioned to fall, I can't say it feels like it here in the south. This move will ensue a long list of firsts for us, one of which being the first year we won't experience all four seasons! The thought of the holidays without snow, is not even something I can grasp yet, but wearing shorts everyday of fall isn't half bad.

Don't get me wrong, fall is one of my favorite seasons, and most certainly my favorite fashion season. I know I've been MIA, but there are some really cool things in the works & I can't wait to style some cozy looks for you to pair with those pumpkin spice lattes.

In the meantime, I'll be purchasing more of the cutoffs below while I acclimate to these palm trees. Think warm thoughts, or cool ones– your choice ;)

Everyday Basics

You may not know it, but there's a motorcycle ride going on and it totally makes sense to talk skincare because of it...

If you're not familiar with Kiehl's, they're a skin and hair care line who's blend of cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal, and medicinal knowledge has produced a product lineup that is top notch!

"Scientifically formulated to respect, restore, and strengthen the skin barrier for healthier, more radiant, younger-looking skin", their products are appropriate for both you, him, and the house guest.

A little bit of background...

Kiehl’s was founded as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighborhood. In 1996 Kiehl’s made HIV/AIDS a key philanthropy, and over the past two decades they have raised more than $2,000,000 for HIV/AIDS organizations and continues to do so.

Here's the cool part...

Every year, Kiehl's holds a multi-day, multi-stop motorcycle ride around the U.S. to help raise awareness and benefit AIDS research. Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR is a multi-day, multi-stop, charitable motorcycle ride from Wisconsin to New York. Every year, Kiehl's CEO, Chris Salgardo, leads the pack, accompanied by a list of celebrities, and last week they stopped in Chicago!

As part of this initiative, the brand sells a Limited Edition Ultimate Strength Hand Salve– a jumbo-sized tube of the classic formula and best seller, with 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this product going to benefit amfAR.

Between the hubs and I, we've tested a lot of Kiehl's products over the years. The images above feature some of my go-to beauty basics, including a hat for bad hair days ;)

Duskfall

Between shoots, events, and everyday errands it's rare to find me in the same outfit all day. That being said, this one managed everything from dawn to dusk! Maybe it's the satin lapel, or the sleeveless cut that adds a little extra edge, but something about this vest is entirely charming and versatile.

Also, note to self, this outfit pairs well with sneakers! While I opted for heels for this shoot, the truth is I ran around town in my Nike Frees most of the day ;)

Happy Monday!

Watermelon Summer

Tank | Shirt | Shorts c/o Vineyard Vines | Sandals | Jewelry c/o

If you ever want to get me a present, just get me a watermelon. True story!

Last year the hubs got serious points when he surprised me with a watermelon birthday cake– it was epic!

When it comes to close friends and family, it's not uncommon to get group texts of watermelon eating gifs with hashtag, #LikeABoss. (I'm telling you, this is a big part of my life...)

In fact, the photos above are rather tame and definitely staged. While there are many useful tips for cutting watermelons, usually I just cut mine in half and take a spoon to it. Easy. Simple. Efficient.

This vibrant love affair is why I had, and I mean HAD, to buy these watermelon shorts by Vineyard Vines. Who makes adult sized watermelon shorts?! And can we please be BFFS for life?!

This purchase was a no-brainer.

So there you have it, fun fact about Steph, and the quickest way to my heart :)

Happy Hump Day!

xoxo

Beauty Tip Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Today I'm excited to team up with Pretty Quick to share one of their newest salons with a service you have to try!

Last week I visited Cici Nails, the shot above is what my nails look like today– exactly one week later...

If you haven't heard of VinyLux, you're not alone, I only recently discovered it when L.A. beauty expert Jodi Shays (post here) visited Chicago & insisted I try it. Unfortunately, because this particular polish formula is new to the beauty industry, finding a salon that offers it can be difficult.

Enter, Cici Nails...

While Cici Nails is known for their two types of no-chip services specific to client needs/lifestyle, they are also one of the few salons to offer VinyLux!

VinyLux is a polish formula reinvented to provide similar results to no-chip without the added UV exposure and harsh removal process. Don't get me wrong, I am no enemy to no-chip services, in fact, I depend on a durable mani, but if I can get similar results in a slightly healthier manner, why not?!

Activated by natural light, VinyLux actually strengthens with wear, while other polished breakdown. Shockingly, VinyLux is applied with no base coat, but the top coat is key, promising a week's worth of no-chip wear and only a regular polish remover when ready for a change!

While chatting with Cici Nails owner, Michael, I learned that up until VinylLux, the nail polish formula has never been been changed! While VinyLux looks like a regular polish, it's actually a liquid vinyl-like formula that adheres directly to the nail surface, sealed with it's breakthrough pro-light top coat.

Created by Creative nail Design (CND) and responsible for many of Fashion Week's top designers' shows, VinyLux offers a varity of colors that are right on trend for the season, I just happen to be borring and always opt for black (#predictable).

VinyLux is created by the inventors of Shellac nails, so again, this is not an anti shellac post, simply an alternative formula for those looking for week-long wear versus the 2-3 week commitment of gel formulas.

Now, what's in it for you?...

Thanks to Pretty Quick, Glitterary readers get a free regular mani (or $15 credit) when you book your appointment via the Pretty Quick site/app– simply use code "glitterary" at check out!

If you're new to Pretty Quick, now's the time to try it! Due to it's unbeatable convenience, Pretty Quick is the only way I book my beauty appointments– think the cashless convenience of Uber, but for salons, it will change your life!
