If you follow us on Instagram or Twitter, last week you heard us chatting Fashion Outlets of Chicago; what you didn't hear was our silence at first sight. Speech-less! While the outlets open for the first time this Thursday, August 1st, this is a project we've been tracking for months, because when conversation suggests the best outlets in the US are moving in next door, glitteraries shut-up and listen.

If you're new to the discussion let's just say, this mall is unlike any other. We're talking major luxury brands we've never seen on sale... Ok, maybe that's an overstatement, but not far from true. All Saints, ToryBurch, Burberry, Halston, Vince, Andrew Marc, and Prada are just a few of the designer that will soon be opening their doors to Chicago fashionistas. Not to mention department stores such as Bloomindales, Neimen Marcus, Saks 5th Ave, and – wait for it– Barneys New York!

Unique to this outlet endeavor, the Fashion Outlets of Chicago will be amply decorated with interactive modern art.

In an effort to bring art outside museum walls and into public spaces, for weeks, nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists have been installing their work in entryways, around escalators, and even from ceilings. Designed for natural light to illuminate these artists' work, the mall showcases a modern glass ceiling. This modern gallery of vibrant artwork, is a project of The Arts Initiative to enrich and eliven the outlet space while fusing fashion and art in a new and innovative manner. Music to a glitterary's ears! The whole mall is a masterpiece, and as far as malls go, it's not that large, which we appreciate– quality over quantity! ;)

But that's not all, with it's prime Rosemont location, soon Chicago travelers will be able to check their bags and print boarding passes right from the concierg's desk! This service will be provided by TSA certified BAGS Inc., so that shoppers can head straight from the checkout lines to their boarding lines. No one has permission to complain about a chicago layover ever again!
