Happy Sunday! It's not typical of me to post on Sunday, but when it's national tartan day, you make an exception.

When I'm looking for a classic tartan I reach across to our friends in England. Barbour is notorious for it's classic prints & timeless designs. Luxurious & funtional, Barbours designs are perfect for everything from city living to hunting, and that's exactly what this Alaskan girl likes to see.

While I usually tend towards Barbour International's Black Streak line, their new summer dress print is perfectly charming for spring. Clearly, I threw on some heels for this shoot, but I'll admit, most days I'd probably pair this look with  flats or sneakers.

Winter Prepster

It's still winter, but unlike the last few months, it's feeling like a heatwave in Chicago right now. Granted, by heatwave I'm refering to the mere 32 degrees above zero, but I'll take what I can get.

Today's look is unusually preppy for my style, and yet quite fitting. You see, my favorite part of working in fashion is that I really do feel like I'm playing dress up each day. One day I can be a little more edgy and the next I can be a total prepster, and neither is wrong.

The funny thing is while you may think there is a lot of structure to my styling habbits, what I wear is primarily selected based on how I feel or want to feel each day. It's always a mystery and always a slight costume change, but most importanty it's always a lot of fun!

So there's my challenge for you– be intentional about having fun with your wardrobe and don't limit yourself. Fit & structure are key, but those translate across all styles, so don't be afraid to branch out of your ordinary and see if you fins a new look that gives you a new boost of confidence for the day ;)

Meet Koa, everyone! Koa is my sweet new niece, and by that I mean we have amazing friends who don't mind us overwhelming their puppy with love. Mary & Scout are loving play dates with their new cousin, and I just can't get enough of her! Kind of like how I can't get enough of this new Barbour coat...

Paired with my favorite Sterling & Burke bag, today's look was inspired by the traditional designs from across the pond. After a long love affair with Barbour's classic designs, I finally made the plunge on this sleek waxed biker trench. I'm trying to incorporate a new moto this year– "Shop less, choose wisely", and this selection definitely fit the description.
