Happy Friday!!! Can we take a moment out of respect for this dress? This dress needs a party– stat!...

I can't tell you how excited I am to share today's post with you, especially because it includes two of my favorite things: shopping & vino!

Each year, Westfield Old Orchard celebrates summer in style with a unique evening of fashion meets vino. This year, Westfield has teamed up with Wine Channel TV to bring you 30 of the best wines from around the globe! Westfield was extremely generous in asking me to co-host the event with certified sommelier, Jessica Altieri, and I honestly can't wait to meet her! Have any of you watched Somm? Add it to your weekend list– serious respect for sommeliers!

The Sip & Shop event takes place next Thursday June 26th and begins at 5pm with the VIP rooftop party starting at 8pm. In a nutshell, what you'll experience is a modern wine tour through Westfield's outdoor shopping center, the 30 carefully currated wines strategically mapped in partnership with 30 of the center's most loved shops. Heads up, this event pairs well with exclusive discounts ;)

In addition, from 5-8pm guests will take in all that Old Orchard has to offer while listening to musical entertainment from Mo-town crooners, R-Gang. For the VIP session, celebrity guest, MS David Glancy CEO and founder of the San Francisco Wine School will be hosting a special “Genius Sips” segment and an exclusive blind tasting you won’t want to miss!

But that's not all! Remember Bright Pink? Nothing makes me happier than a fun event for a good cause, and I'm happy to say that this year's Sip & Shop evening will benefit our friends at Bright Pink!

So here's the deal, Westfield and I really want to celebrate summer with you, so we're giving away 4 tickets to the event!!!! Two lucky Glitterary readers will win tickets to Sip & Shop with a friend!

Ticket's for the main event are $25 with VIP access for an addition $10, and you'll want to get your tickets stat, because space is limited! Keep in mind, to attend this event, you must be over 21.

Oscar Red Carpet 2014

Yesterday Twitter was abuzz. In a nutshell, Kate Hudson stunned on the red carpet, Jennifer Lawrence fell again, Ellen made Twitter history (#smarketing), and Olivia Wilde took maternity attire to a whole new level of glamour. Oh, and Leo waits in hopes for next year yet again(who's a guy gotta know to get an Oscar around here?!).

I'll admit, red carpet recaps don't happen often here on Glitterary, but let's be honest, it's been freezing & no one wants to shoot in this weather.

So, in case you haven't had enough Oscars in the last 24 hours, my top 5 best dressed list...

1. Kate Hudson - This hollywood royalty, most recently gracing our magazines as the face of ANN TAYLOR, stunned in a silver beaded gown by Atelier Versace. Kate topped off her look with simple elegance including vintage hollywood locks swept to one side, Jimmy Choo shoes, & a Versace clutch proving that less is more.

2. Lupita Nyong'o - Not only did Lupita grace us with an acceptance speach so elloquent it's bound to carry us through the remainder of 2014, but who can forget this whimsical moment on the red carpet. Floating to the stage in blue Parade chiffon, Lupita made for an Oscar's experience to remember.

3. Jenna Dewan Tatum - Neutrals were a big hit at this year's regal fete, and while this acrtress was neither nominated or featured in any particular film of 2013 that I can remember, she was not overlooked on the red carpet. Jenna wore a nude gown by Reem Acra, tweeting "#Oscars bound! Feeling like a fairy tonight!". One can only hope to look this good after having a baby, which brings me to my next best dressed lady...

4. Olivia Wilde- Who knew 7months could look so good! This soon to be momma, took maternity attire to the next level in a classic and ever so elegant black and white gown by Valentino. With a silhouette that hugged her baby bump like a glove, Olivia Wiled gave the phrase "pregnant in heels" a new meaning.

5. Kate Blanchet - Cate Blanchett is said to perhaps have been THE best dressed star on the red carpet, her Giorgio Armani gown glittering with swarovski crystals from top to bottom. This made for a heavy but classicly couture ellegance true to Armani & hollywood glamour.

While there were many more who turned heads including Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Sandra Bullock, and Camelia Alvez, these 5 have left me craving an occasion to replicate their understated ellegance.

Who were your red carpet favorites?...

Happy Monday!

Warby Parker Class Trip

While we hate to admit it, Warby Parker's visit to Chicago is coming to an end. The Warby team has graced us with their presence since Setember 4th. The class trip bus has traveled the country coast to coast and hosts all Warby frames for visitors to explore the full collection of classic and trend setting frames. As previously mentioned here and here, we love Warby for many reasons, but one stands above the rest: for every pair of Warby glasses sold (Only $95 including prescription), Warby donates a pair to someone in need! It's simply good citizenship, and for that we applaud them!

So, stop by and make your selections, visit with the team, and snap some shots in their photo-booth! Our favorite frames from yesterday's visit? The Ainsworth in Elderberry.

For details to their last few days in Chicago, including hours and locations, click here. As for right now, the Class Trip bus is parked at North and Halstad.

Weekend Where To

Buckle up, because we've got your weekend agenda and you are booked! A lot is happening in the Chicago fashion scene this weekend and we're sharing our top 3  places to be, consider this your weekend where to... 1. BaubleBar - That's right, this online shopping hot spot is in Chicago for a special 3 day pop-up shop at Sofia's, and we need to show them how Chicago styles. If you don't already shop BaubleBar this is the perfect opportunity for you to fall in love, because these baubles are everything you want in jewels: sparkle, statement, and affordability. While we love shopping online, we also love practicing our layering skills in the mirror, so this shop is right up our alley.

2. Designer Closet - While you're in the Gold Coast, be sure to stop by Designer Closet on the third floor of the 900 Shops next to Bloomingdales. This is a unique pop-up shop of all the designer resale you could dream of–seriously Chanel and Prada for days! Best of all, all proceeds benefit the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, so why not shop and help a great cause? Trust us, this is one pop-up shop you won't want to miss!

3. Last Call, Neiman Marcus - While the Fashion Outlets of Chicago can always be counted on to satisfy that shopping urge, this weekend Neiman Marcus Last Call is hosting their Friends and Family sale, and since you're friends of Glitterary, we can't help but tell you all about it! Through Monday enjoy an additional 30% off of Neiman's already ridiucluously reduced prices. We took a brief preview tour on Wednesday and let's just say we snagged some Rag and Bone for $50. Doesn't get better than that! (Styled looks coming soon)

4. Warby Parker - And just because it's habit to break our shopping limitations, don't forget that Warby Parker is in town on their class trip! We've featured Warby Parker before, because not only do we love their trendsetting and affordable frames, but we love their business model! For every pair of glasses that you purchase (Only $95 including prescription)  Warby donates a pair to someone in need! It simply makes sense, and a company with that kind of citizenship will always have our support!

All Black Everything

Today we're teaming up with Skirt PR for a very special cause. Starting tomorrow there will be a one-of-a kind pop-up shop, aptly titled "Designer Closet", and hosting all of the Chanel, Prada, and YSL a girl could dream of. Best of all, all proceeds go to Lurie Children's Hospital! In an effort to promote the product & event, Skirt asked us to stop by and style an item. I think it took us 2 minutes to make our selection- Black Ostrich feather skirt!? The styling ideas were overflowing! While we considered a graphic tee and tuxedo blazer, ultimately we decide to be a little more dramatic and stick to all black! This trend is killer right now, and we know we're biased, but we think this look is right on par.

This little skirt and much much more will be available starting Friday 10am at Designer Closet on the 3rd floor of the 900shops right next to Bloomingdales, details below. Designer inventory has been generously donated by local retailers as well as friends and supporters of the Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago; all profits will benefit Lurie Children’s and its efforts to provide the most advanced and compassionate healthcare for children and their families.

Store Hours: Friday, September 20 (10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), through Saturday, September 21(10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
