In case it hasn't been stated already, Chicago summers are amazing! As I come and go from my apartment I'm greeted by a green canopy of trees that lines the street and flowers reaching out from my neighbor's garden. This lovely, and long-overdue, change of scenery led me to trade in my usual summer neon pinks, for neon green and dare I say, I am in love! S has been a long time fan of neon green, see here and here, but I admit I've been a little bit skeptical in the past only incorporating it in the form of accessories, but I have now officially converted. You can expect to see a lot more neon coming your way.

A Sharper Edge

A Sharper Edge // Skort: ZARA | Blouse: J.CREW Factory | Blazer: GAP - Similar | Shoes: SoleSociety  also available at Nordstrom| Necklace: Nordstrom in stores only, similar HERE | Bracelets: Bloomingdales | Baseball Hat: ASOS | Bag: J.CREW Factory

Ok, I'll admit, I jumped on the bandwagon. What the heck, I like this little white skort. That's right, this sharp little number's not just a skirt, it's not just a short, it's both. I don't remember wearing a skort, since I was a kid, but this one kicks some serious style...

That's why I kept it simple with a little black, a white blazer, and a couple gold statements. The lines on this skort are amazing, so I had to turn the edge up a bit & do some respect to ZARA's bold move.

My favorite part? This look transitions beautifully from day to night. I originally chose this style for a visit to SimplyStylist Chicago, where I spent the afternoon with the lovely ladies of Jess & Jill, and the beautiful Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior.

However, that evening we had a friend in town and did the usual tour of Chicago, aka. food and cocktails. This look was perfect!

Long story short, I know everyone's showing off these skorts right now, and heck you may be annoyed by it (#sorrynotsorry), but if you like them as much as I do, BUY THEM, and wear them boldly! Who cares if everyone is wearing them, style them YOUR way, and make them your own ;)

Happy Monday, everyone!

Loft Grand Opening

On Thursday we got to attend the new LOFT Mag Mile store grand opening. The event was hosted by SkoogProductions and featured some of Chicago's most stylish ladies as 2013's Chicago LOFT Girls. This year's LOFT Girls include Sam Saifer-Berngard from SPLASH,DJ Megan Taylor, Erica Bethe Levin and Jessica Zweig of Cheeky ChicagoCat De Orio, and Liz Schneider of Sequins and Stripes. The evening was filled with bubbles, bites, and beats by LOFT Girl DJ Megan Taylor, it was the perfect recipe for a celebration.

Were we to describe LOFT's new style in one sentence, we'd call it colorful, eclectic, with just a dash of edge. Why you should shop LOFT? It's perfect day to night wear. Perfect workwear, full of summer hues that are easy to accessorize for a night out! Additionally, this season LOFT has some uber chic weekend-wear! Finally, and perhaps most importantly, LOFT's price point is right on target for us average 20-somethings, and we always appreciate that ;)

Conclusion, we're crushing on LOFT- but what else is new!... Enjoy the pics!

Pretty Tough

Tee: Nordstrom | Camo Pants: GAP | Shoes: Vince Camuto (old) - Craving These | Hat: ASOS | Bag: Michael Kors | Necklace: Bloomingdales - Similar | Bracelets: Chan Luu , Glam Boutique (Similar)

Blame it on Duck Dynasty, but we're picky about our camo... but really.

Though the camo print is trending and we like the idea of  a dash of "rugged"  in our closets, we really only wanted in if we could dress it UP or DOWN and it would always have to look feminine!... Specific, we know, and therein lay our problem.

Though the idea of styling camo was exciting, we quickly realized that the print and color patterns varied drastically among designers. In order to be dressed up & feminine, the print couldn't be too dark or contrasting, and we simply didn't care much for Rag & Bone's take on a micro camo print... sorry :(

Finally, however, we found a winner: GAP's Always Skinny Skimmer– the perfect color, print, and fit!

Today's theme was "Pretty Tough." In order to keep things tough, Steph paired her camo with a leather baseball cap & edgy jewelry. Too keep things feminine, she added a "Chic" graphic tee and peep-toe heels. We think she nailed it!

Today's look was casual, but previously Steph had styled these skinnies with a dressed up flare for theEverygirl (see the look here), a completely different look, proving these camo pants as versatile as we'd hoped they would be!

Also in store, so many ideas for this new graphic tee! Stay tuned!...

All Work No Play... Jk ;)

Who says workwear can't be fun? If there's one thing we don't do here at Glitterary, it's take ourselves too seriously. This season we're loving black and white, especially for work appropriate styles! Today, Steph's paired a boxy chiffon top with some classic black skinnies for a light and summer-ready look. Add a statement necklace and gold accented heels for a fun and trendy flare that's totes profesh! (yes, that's a real word just ask @rushbomb ;)

Most importantly for workwear, choose styles that make you feel comfortable and confident! Nothing's more important that feeling the part and making others feel that you own the part! If you're not crazy about your current job, dress for the dream job! We promise it'll make your work day that much better ;)

Happy Thursday!
