Friday's are for wrapping up a week well worked and preparing for a weekend of adventure! That being said, Friday attire must be ready to play.

There's a strangely powerful beauty in simplicity, and while this look implies some level of luxury, it's really nothing more than some key basics.

The goal in my book is always an effortlessly chic ensemble, and this one is perfect for taking you from office to weekend!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, Glitteraries! I can't think of a better way to celebrate this heat wave than with a little crop top action & this look is one of my most recent favorites! I purchased this skirt via H&M over a month ago, but knowing I wanted to pair it with a crop top, the look had to hibernate just a bit longer. Needless to say, I think it was worth the wait!

Have a fabulous weekend & enjoy this sunshine - it's going t be 75 out tomorrow!!! Margaritas, anyone? ;)

The other day Nike came over to chat game day fashion. Being super competitive by nature, it's easy to be an enthusiastic Chicago sports fan.

On game day (if I'm able), I love being on the home turf cheering our teams on in the heat of it. However, a lot of the time it's just catching the game from a bar with some friends. I'm more than ok with this option too.

For game day attire I always recommend having fun with whatever you wear. I know it sounds cheesy, but I mean it. Game days are a great opportunity to show a lot of personality and attitude with your look, so embrace it! One of my favorite things about Chicago is stepping into the city on game day & seeing how everyone styles their team clothing or colors in their own unique way!

Personally, I'll usually keep it simple with a tee and jeans... and there's usually a baseball cap included since I own at least one for each Chicago team. When shopping team gear, I opt for the more vintage/distressed look. Not a big fan of logos that look to perfectly printed.

Here in Chicago, I've had a lot of luck shopping sports gear at Nordstrom, & don't be afraid to shop in the Men's department– they usually have the best selections!

For accessories, I'd opt for a cross body bag (function) & muted jewelry. The main concept for game day attire: keep it simple, functional, & festive! ;)

Tartan Charm // Feat. Barbour

Happy Sunday! It's not typical of me to post on Sunday, but when it's national tartan day, you make an exception.

When I'm looking for a classic tartan I reach across to our friends in England. Barbour is notorious for it's classic prints & timeless designs. Luxurious & funtional, Barbours designs are perfect for everything from city living to hunting, and that's exactly what this Alaskan girl likes to see.

While I usually tend towards Barbour International's Black Streak line, their new summer dress print is perfectly charming for spring. Clearly, I threw on some heels for this shoot, but I'll admit, most days I'd probably pair this look with  flats or sneakers.

Looking for some easy weekend basics? Invest in a few select Barbour pieces– trust me, you'll wear them with everything!

Have an amazing rest of your weekend! xo

Soft Edge

Knock on wood, spring has finally sprung in Chicago! The last few days have been blue skies and a perfect 50-60 degrees. Unfortunately, this meant a quarter of yesterday's run was spent taking pictures, but when you've been hibernating for 6+ months obnoxious behavior is slightly more acceptable. Right?...

I picked up this Cynthia Rowley skirt nearly a year ago at a Gilt warehouse sale, and luckily it's still avaiable here.

What isn't visible in this set of images is a bold matte zipper on the back of the skirt, and I can't wait to tuck a graphic tee into that waitline to show it off!

Cut from an almost neoprene-like sweater material, this skirt will be a lot of fun as we transition into spring. Originally styled for a concert outing with the hubs, the edge to this look was strategic, but due to the soft nature of the fabrics you could easily sport this look for any casual occasion.

On another note, you'll have to forgive me, but in the bliss of this sunshine I completely dropped the ball on promoting our giveaway with Peruvian Connection. Because of my short falling on this, I've extended the entry deadline to next Monday night. That said, don't wait until the last minute, this gift card could bring you some fresh spring favorites you won't want to miss out on ;)
